Hyderabad, Nov.5: Senior TDP leader Yerrannaidu on Saturday compared the Kiran Kumar regime to the Emergency days as the State was being administered with police lathis.
Reacting sharply to the arrest of party legislator Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao in Mylavaram of Krishna district this morning at a Rachchabanda program in which Secondary Education Minister K. Parthasaradhi was the chief guest.
When the TDP MLA and his supporters staged a protest at the Rachchabanda program and demanded immediate assistance to the farming community, the police intervened and forcibly arrested them. However, later on being produced before a magistrate, the MLA and others were released on bail.
Referring to the arrest Yerrannaidu pointed out that in a democratic set-up every individual has a right to question the government and get their problems redressed. If the government cannot tolerate any protests in a democratic manner, why hold programs like Rachchabanda in the name of redressal of people’s problems, he asked. (NSS).
