Kidnapper gang kingpin nabbed

Hyderabad, December 31: The kingpin of a gang of kidnappers who abducted a person luring him with young girls, was nabbed by police on Thursday.

The accused, Syed Mahaboob Khader alias Khader is a resident of Chandrayangutta and a city dossier criminal (CDC) of Golconda police station. According to police, Khader came in contct with a rich businessman from Banjara Hills, 43yearold S Narayana Rao who was arrested by Sanjeevareddy Nagar police in February in a Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA) case.

Khader, who was a habitual offender, took Rao’s phone number. After he was released from prison in October, the former called up the victim and lured him by promising to provide young girls. “Khader asked Narayana Rao to come near the Apollo Hospitals at Jubilee Hills to select the girls. Rao went there when Khader along with his associates Amjad, Dominic, Abdullah and Hamza, abducted Narayana Rao in his car,” Task Force deputy commissioner of police VB Kamalasan Reddy said in a release.

The accused confined Narayana Rao at Fekas Garden and demanded `30 lakh ransom to release him but finally settled for `2.5 lakh. The amount was paid by Rao’s wife at the GVK Mall at Banjara Hills. While releasing Narayana Rao, the accused also snatched away his mobile phone, gold ring, chain and his car and left him at Nagarjuna Circle. The next day itself, other members of the gang were arrested and coming to know about it, Khader went underground. Police said Khader was involved in automobile thefts, shutter liftings and dacoities and was arrested several times. A CDC was opened against him in 1999.
