Hyderabad, April 23: A degree first year student was allegedly abducted and assaulted after he came out of a college after writing the examination on Thursday.
Picked up from Secunderabad, the victim was left after three hours at the Tarnaka crossroads.
Syed Owais, a B.Com student of the Little Flower Junior College at Uppal, gave his exam at St Mary’s College at Regimental Bazar and came out around 4 p.m. Six youngsters waiting on three bikes at the entrance gate picked up an argument with him and beat him up. They then forcibly took him away on a bike towards Begumpet.
Syed’s friends gave a chase but couldn’t catch them.
They alerted Owais’s father, Syed Samdani, who immediately lodged a complaint with the Gopalapuram police.
Owais was reportedly taken to the HMT Colony where he was beaten up by the youngsters before being let off at Tarnaka crossroads. Owais called his father from Tarnaka and was escorted to the Gopalapuram police station by the local police. Owais said he was warned against informing the police. The boy was shifted to the Gandhi hospital for medical tests.
Owais’s parents suspect a senior student, Rohit, with whom Owais had a fight a few months ago, for the abduction. A case has been registered against Rohit and others and special teams have been formed to nab them.
