Kidnapped child rescued, acused arrested

New Delhi: A 24-year-old man, who had allegedly abducted a six-year-old child from west Delhi for ransom, has been arrested following which the child was rescued, police said today.

The accused, identified as Kuldeep, who worked as servant in a provision store, had allegedly abducted the child of his employer yesterday, DCP (East), B S Gurjar said.

The man, who kidnapped the child from Vinod Nagar area, had demanded Rs 5 lakh as ransom.

A call was received in Madhu Vihar police station regarding kidnapping of a 6-year-old child from West Vinod Nagar area by the domestic help of the caller. A letter for ransom was recovered from the main door of the complainant’s house, demanding Rs 5 lakh as ransom, police said.

Kuldeep was tracked down in UP’s Etah district and a trap was laid, following which he was arrested when he was travelling in a bus from Delhi along with the kidnapped child.
