KOCHI: Pulic interest litigation was filed in the Kerala High Court on Wednesday demanding Muslim women’s entry in mosques along with men to offer prayers.
According to media reports, Akhila Bharatha Hindu Mahasabha state president Swamy Dethathreya Sai Swaroop Nath who filed petition stated that “women of the Muslim community were being disgraced and discriminated against which was against Article 21 and 14 of the Constitution.”
The petition was submitted in the context of the Supreme Court order allowing entry of women devotees of all ages in the Sabarimala temple.
The petition also termed ‘purdah system’ for Muslim women, an encroachment into the realm of personal liberty that degrades, segregates, and discriminates them. The ‘purdah system’ would enable anti-social elements to misuse it and commit crimes.
