Ker Assembly: Walkout over irregularities in voters list

Thiruvananthapuram, June 30: The Congress-led UDF Opposition in Kerala today staged a walkout in the Assembly, alleging that government was trying to sabotage the coming local body polls by delaying voters list and delimitation of wards.

Rejecting the Opposition charge, Finance Minister T M Thomas Issac said draft of voters list would be published tomorrow. Anomalies, if any in the list, could be rectified as per the established procedure.

Delimitation of wards would be also completed soon, Issac, who replied on behalf of Minister for Local Administration, Paloli Muhammedkutty said, replying to a notice for an adjournment motion moved by K Babu (Congress).

On the Opposition charge that state Election Commission was functioning as a “government agent”, Issac said it was not proper to level allegations against an institution like Election Commission.
