Hyderabad, April15: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Thursday took umbrage at Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s reported statement on wiping out the party. The TDP leaders severely criticised Mr. Rao and warned him of harbouring intentions harmful to their party.
Adilabad district unit president of TDP, Gone Hanmanth Rao, said Mr. Rao has exhibited his true colours by stating that Telangana can be achieved only if TDP is finished. He said the relevant statement confirms that TRS was formed only because a Ministerial berth was denied to Mr. Rao and not because he was serious on achieving the separate State.
The TDP leader said his party had caused political awakening in the masses during its 30 years of existence.
Meanwhile, Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna at a press conference termed Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao a broker of Congress party. He said the statement made it clear that he was working at the behest of Congress leaders.
The MLA also demanded withdrawal of G.O. 177 which was meant to suppress the struggle for separate Telangana.
