KCR toeing Modi line, says Kharge

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was toeing the line of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as KCR extended total support to Modi in every decision he had taken at the Central level. “Be it Note ban, GST introduction, attacks on Dalits and Minorities of the country and reduction in GDP, CM KCR has supported the BJP led NDA government at the center,” he said.

Addressing media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Kharge said he was representing Gulbarga MP seat, which was once part of Hyderabad State. He said scores of youngsters had sacrificed their lives for the formation of the Telangana State and added that Congress leader Sonia Gandhi had created the Telangana State after receiving approval from all the political parties of the State. He, however, added that the aspirations of the people of the State were not fulfilled despite the formation of the separate State. Kharge said the Telangana culture and heritage was great and added that CM KCR did not fulfill any of the promises made to the people of the State.

Targetting the BJP, Kharge alleged that the ruling party at the Centre was trying to weaken all the institutions like CBI, ED and Election Commission as it wanted them to toe its line. “We asked them to follow the rules in the appointment of CBI chief. But they did not follow our advice,” he said. The only goal of the BJP is to dilute all democratic institutions in the country, he added.
