Hyderabad, January 20: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao said that MLAs and MPs of the Congress and Telugu Desam (TD) still had a chance to enter history by resigning for the Telangana cause, otherwise they would become betrayers of Telangana. “It is up to them to become makers of history or betrayers,” he added.
He said that the separate Telangana movement would not be stopped and would go on even though leaders failed to resign.
TD district unit vice-president V. Satyanarayan Goud, former Nirmal market committee chairman Enugu Lingareddy of Congress, TD town president Errabothu Rajender, TD presidents of three mandals, sarpanches and others joined the TRS in the presence of Mr Chandrasekhar Rao here on Wednesday. Addressing a meeting on the occasion of the TD and Congress leaders joining the party, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao said that people would not spare Congress and TD MLAs and MPs who refused to resign and would chase them in the future.
The TRS chief reiterated that a Dalit would be made the first chief minister of separate Telangana and a Muslim the deputy chief minister and added that the percentage of reservation for Muslims and Scheduled Tribes would be increased to 12 as their population will go up in a separate Telangana state.
Mr Chandrasekhar Rao appealed to people to establish relay hunger strike camps under the TJAC in every village for starting relay hunger strikes from January 21 and added that they were going to intensify the agitation from February with a non-cooperation movement.
TRS MLAs Gaddam Aravind Reddy, Kaveti Sammaiah and Nallala Odelu, former MLA Govind Naik and senior TRS leaders Srihari Rao, Yadagiri Reddy, Rajeshwar, Bharath Waghmare, Goverdhan Reddy, Babanna and others were present.
