KCR, Harish pour scorn on Lagadapati

Hyderabad, April 10: The telangana Rashtra Samithi today demanded that the State Government force all private power plants operating under the Merchant Power Policy to sell power to the APtransco in order to overcome the power crisis in the State.

Speaking to reporters here today, TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao strongly criticised Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajgopal’s statements and said the MP had no right to demand unity of the State. “When telugu people are facing power crisis, the gas-based power project owned by Lagadapati is selling power to Delhi and Nadu. Why does he not sell the same power to the State and prove his commitment to people?” he questioned. Formation of State was inevitable and no force on the earth could stop it, he thundered.

Former MLA THarish Rao said Rajagopal’s plant was producing power at Rs 2.80 per unit and selling it to tamil Nadu and Delhi at Rs 12. He alleged that the State Government approached the Vijayawada MP expressing its readiness to purchase power at Rs 12 per unit.

Leaders from Andhra and Rayalaseema region are opposing Statehood to telangana only because their personal interests would be affected, Harish Rao said here today.

Addressing a public meeting on the occasion of completion of 100 days of relay hunger strike here, he came down heavily on political leaders from Andhra and Rayalaseema.

He demanded that the Government close the Biopharma company, owned by Kurnool MLA tG Venkatesh, for supplying poor quality Foot and Mouth disease vaccines that resulted in largescale deaths of cattle in Karimnagar and Adilabad districts. Rao demanded that Venkatesh be prosecuted for supplying inferior quality vaccine.

He lashed out at Rajagopal for looking at only protecting his business interests with no concern for the welfare and development of the State. targeted former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, for not raising his voice against the shortage of drinking water in Mahaboobnagar while crying hoarse about the Karnataka Government move to raise level of Almatti dam saying that the water share to Andhra and Rayalaseema would be curtailed.
