Excise Minister Padma Rao Goud today launched the Bathukamma saris distribution among women at Prof. Jayashankar Stadium in Lalapet here.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was offering saris to women like a big brother in the family to make happy and celebrate the floral festival. He said the State Government has spent Rs 222 crore for sari distribution among 1.04 crore women in the State.
The minister said they are distributing saris to 52,929 women in 50 centers in Secunderabad segment. Claiming that it is a record at national level to gift saris to the women for the festival, he said those with white ration cards and aged 18 years can get the Bathukamma saris.
Later, the minister also inspected a similar program at BNR Gardens. (NSS)
