Hyderabad: Bitter critic of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao in his Gajwel Assembly constituency and Congress leader Vonteru Pratap Reddy is likely to join the TRS party. The entire Gajwel constituency is abuzz with the reports that Pratap Reddy might join the ruling party.
They say the joining is likely to take place on Thursday evening. However, Pratap Reddy himself did not make any official statement on the issue. It is also widely speculated that Pratap Reddy will be made an MLC if he joined the ruling party. Vonteru lost twice at the hands of KCR from the constituency.
In 2014 elections, Vonteru lost the election with a margin of some 17,000 votes. In the recent Assembly elections, Pratap Reddy lost at the hands of the Chief Minister with a huge margin of over 50,000 votes.
Although, the KCR has won the election against Pratap Reddy, the local TRS leaders said they had to toil for over a month to defeat Pratap Reddy in the constituency. The entire election campaigning of KCR was undertaken by his nephew and former minister T. Harish Rao. Pratap Reddy joined the Congress along with party’s working president A. Revanth Reddy and contested the Assembly elections as the party candidate from Gajwel. Political analysts are saying that it will be a big blow for Revanth Reddy if Pratap Reddy joined the TRS.
