Kashmir BJP wants ‘smartly-dressed’ police at Jammu and Srinagar airports

Srinagar: Kashmir unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wants the police personnel posted at Srinagar and Jammu airports to be dressed up smartly so that it conveys a “semblance of normalcy” in the state to the travellers.

Smartly dressed security personnel at both the airports would make passengers feel comfortable and would add to the semblance of normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir, BJP spokesman Khalid Jehangir said.

Jehangir appealed to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who also holds the portfolio of home department, to change the dress code of the security personnel deployed inside the Srinagar and Jammu airports and to set up hi-tech women police stations at Rajbagh in Srinagar and in Jammu.

Tourist season is picking up and people from different states and other countries have started thronging Jammu and Srinagar.

It is high time to carry out the reformative measures so that people start feeling the change on the ground, he said.

The security personnel deployed outside the airport terminals can continue to wear the uniforms but the dress code of the security men within the airport premises needs to be changed, he added.

We appreciate the setting up of new women police stations across the state but still lot more needs to be done. We appeal the Chief Minister to set up two more hi-tech women’s police stations in Srinagar and Jammu, he said.

He said that PDP-BJP coalition in Jammu and Kashmir is committed to work towards the welfare of people and would leave no stone unturned to address the issues which touch the skin of a common man.
