Mumbai: Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor and industrialist Sunjay Kapur officially got divorced today with the family court here accepting their consent terms.
The estranged couple, who was locked in a bitter battle for divorce and custody of their two children, filed their consent terms wherein, the actress agreed to withdraw all the cases filed against Sunjay.
The court accepted their terms and pronounced them as divorced.
However, details of the financial settlement and custody rights, which were also part of the consent term, could not be known.
The duo had tied the knot in 2003. However, soon things turned sour between them and Karisma moved out of Sunjay’s house in 2010 and permanently shifted base to Mumbai.
Initially, the couple had approached Delhi High Court, which advised them to explore the possibility of settlement.
In 2014, the two decided to end their marriage and filed for a divorce through mutual consent. However, Karisma withdrew her consent from the petition in November last year, claiming that Sunjay was unable to meet the financial commitment.
The divorce case had turned ugly after the two started off with a blame game against each other. While Karisma had, earlier this year, filed a dowry harassment case against her estranged husband and mother-in-law, Sunjay too accused the actress for marrying him for just money.
