Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has ordered to rename the Kanshi Ram Urdu, Arabic and Persian University after famous Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting. The university was set up by former chief minister Mayawati.
The entire cabinet agreed that it was inappropriate to name a university devoted to the promotion and development of Urdu, Arabic and Persian after Kanshi Ram, as he had nothing to do with these languages.
Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti was a highly revered Sufi saint and an exponent of these languages.
