Thane (Maharashtra), January 16: You may get justice at your doorsteps, literally.
A court on wheels — perhaps the first-of-its kind — is being launched in Maharashtra to reduce the number of pending cases.
The mobile van will travel to districts and camp for one month at prominent taluka towns to hear minor civil and compensation-related cases, including motor accident claims, and give instant judgement, officials associated with the project said.
The project is being launched by the State Legal Services Authority. Acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court J N Patel, who is patron and Executive Chairman of the Authority, will inaugurate the programme at Mumbra here tomorrow.
Trimbak Kochewad, an office-bearer of the Thane District Legal Aid Services, said in the begining around 190 to 195 matters will be taken up at the camp each day.
