Srinagar, January 22: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Mohammad Yaseen Malik was arrested along with four other senior leaders of the front in north Kashmir today.
The arrest was made as a precautionary measure to prevent any law and order problem, official sources said.
A spokesman of the JKLF said Mr Malik was on way to Handwara in the frontier district of Kupwara to address a meeting, when he was stopped at Chogal by police. He and his four associates were asked to get down from their vehicle and later taken into custody, he said.
Condemning the arrest of Front chairman and other leaders, the spokesman said this was the second time that Mr Malik was arrested and was not allowed to address a meeting at Handwara.
