Shimla, January 30: The alleged killing of a 16-year-old girl by a 17-year-old jilted lover has shocked people as he reportedly stabbed the deceased 63 times.
Claiming there appeared to be nothing wrong with the boy and he did not appear to be a psychic case, the Kumarsain police felt that the stabbing of victim 63 times was something which perhaps even hardened criminals did not do.
The police said accused Saurabh (17) and victim Stuti (16) were both students of Government Senior Secondary School, Kumarsain, and reportedly having an affair for the last over one year. However, of late, the girl had started ignoring the boy, which was the reason that he got peeved and perhaps in rage took the decision of doing away with her.
They said that on Sunday, the accused, a resident of Shaila village, went to the girl’s house in nearby Lathi village to take a practical book in the presence of the girl’s mother.
He entered the room in which the girl was and bolted the door from inside, after which he started stabbing the victim, even as the hapless mother heard her daughter screaming from inside but could do nothing as the door was bolted, they claimed.
The police said that a case had been registered against the accused under Sections 302, 452 and 342 of IPC, adding that on interrogation it appeared that the motive was that he had been jilted by the girl.
A senior doctor of the psychiatry wing of Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital said that in an isolated case it could not be said whether a person was a psychic or not. Committing a murder was an abnormal act, but one had to go into the factors that were behind the person taking such a drastic action of killing someone, before any judgment could be passed, he maintained.
