‘Jilted’ college teacher arrested for attacking woman

Hyderabad: A faculty member at a private degree college here allegedly attacked a 23-year-old girl student today in Nalgonda district of Telangana with a blade after she rejected his marriage proposal, police said.

The incident took place at Bandlaguda in Nampally mandal.

Raj Kumar slashed the woman with a blade near her house following an argument, circle inspector Venkat Reddy said.

“Raj allegedly tried to slit her throat, but she managed to escape but suffered injuries near her neck and hands. She was taken to a nearby hospital and is said to be out of danger,” the police officer said.

The woman worked as a ‘tele-caller’ in the same college where Raj was a faculty member. He attacked her after she rejected his proposal to marry, she told police.
