Brussels attack: Jayalalithaa seeks PM’s help to locate missing TN resident

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on Saturday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to direct the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Indian Embassy in Belgium to provide help to a family of a Tamil Nadu resident, Thiru Raghavendran Ganeshan, who has been listed as missing in the recent bomb blasts in Brussels.

“I write to bring to your urgent attention the case of Thiru Raghavendran Ganeshan, a native of Tamil Nadu who is currently listed as missing in the recent bomb blasts in Brussels, Belgium. Thiru Raghavendran Ganeshan is the eldest son of his parents who hail from Tamil Nadu. His young wife, who is also from Tamil Nadu, is currently living in Chennai, after delivering the couples’ first child. The whole family is extremely anxious to hear word of him and to know about his whereabouts and safety. They have appealed to me to help trace their son,” She wrote.

“I request you to kindly instruct the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Brussels to provide the family all necessary assistance to trace Mr. Raghavendran Ganeshan at the earliest. This assistance would be of great help and solace to the very worried family,” she added.

The Belgian Police had arrested six people in connection with airport and metro suicide bombings in Brussels, while the authorities in France said they thwarted a militant plot ‘that was at an advanced stage’ there.

Federal prosecutors confirmed that six unidentified people were arrested, including three who were detained outside the prosecutors’ own office, in the centre of Brussels.

Two others were arrested in the Belgian capital and one person was arrested in Jette on the city’s outskirts. (ANI)
