JD-U to go it alone in Arunachal Pradesh assembly polls

New Delhi, September 08: JD(U), which is going it alone in all the 60 assembly seats in Arunachal Pradesh, plans to campaign aggressively to regain its national party status.

To strengthen the party cadre in that state, workers are being recruited in large numbers.

JD-U, which shares power with BJP in Bihar, wants to to spread its influence in Arunachal Pradesh, which has a sizeable Bihari population.

Party chief Sharad Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will tour the state to woo the voters.

“If we perform well there, JD(U) can stake claim for national party status,” a senior party leader said.

He said the party was going it alone as BJP had performed poorly in the Lok Sabha elections and lost both the parliament seats in the state to Congress.
