Jaya asks Karuna to withdraw support from UPA Govt

Chennai, October 23: AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa today asked DMK to withdraw its support from the UPA Government on the Mullaperiyar dam issue.

“He (Karunanidhi) has truly been let down by the Central Government…. he should withdraw his party’s support to the Union Government immediately,” she said in a statement here.

On the Supreme Court rejecting Tamil Nadu Government’s plea for a stay on the Central nod to Kerala for a survey on the dam, she said “the petition had been filed only for the sake of filing and not with any real intention of stopping Kerala from carrying out the survey.

“This is borne out by the Supreme Court’s reasons for rejecting Tamil Nadu’s demand,” she said.
