Jats & Muslims meet Mulayam Singh Yadav for ‘settlement’, after 4 yrs of Muzaffarnagar riots

Muzaffarnagar: After a long fight between Jats and Muslims, post Muzaffarnagar riots violence in 2013, both the communities now seek to settle down the dispute with Samajwadi Party leader, Mulayam Singh Yadav’s help.

During the riots in 2013, 63 people were killed and 50,000 were displaced. However, a positive gesture has emerged as a delegation of people from both communities met the former UP chief minister at his residence on Tuesday for compromise, quoted Time of India.

According to leaders who were present at the meeting, both the communities want to withdraw ongoing cases against each other.

Ompal Nehra, the former cabinet minister in the Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh, confirmed about the meeting and told TOI, “People from Muzaffarnagar, belonging to both the communities, met Netaji in Delhi. A committee, which will work under his direction and has riots victims as its members, has been formed to work out the resolution of these cases and bring back peace in the region.”

Mulayam Singh Yadav has been trying to gain influence on Jat leaders. He has also maintained that he is a disciple of Jat icon and former prime minister Chaudhary Charan Singh.

Moreover, when Singh was the CM of Uttar Pradesh, a statue of Charan Singh was erected in front of Uttar Pradesh assembly house.
