Mumbai: Jamiat Ulama-i-Maharashtra which takes up cases of Muslim youth who have been implicated in terror charges in the country has taken initiative to release Muslim prisoners falsely implicated or booked on minor charges. The body sought details of the prisoners who are languishing in various jails of Maharashtra on minor charges.
Advocate of Jamiat Ulama-i-Maharashtra Shahid Nadeem told that on the direction of Secretary Legal Aid Committee Gulzar Azmi, RTIs were filed to Arthur Road prison, Taloja jail, Byculla jail, Thane jail and Nasik Central jail asking for the list of prisoners who are facing minor charges and could be released on bail.
After getting the list, Jamiat Ulama will provide them legal aid and pay bail amount for them.
