The Government will conduct a 15-day long awareness drive on water conservation and water management methods in the name of Jala Nidhi, Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao has said.
Jupally launched a vehicle of Jala Nidhi at Machinenipally of his Kollapur constituency and the drive will be conducted until April 24. Stating that water is source of life he said that as many as 89 teams of Sanskritika Sarathi artistes will tour 438 mandals comprising 8838 villages to conduct awareness on water conservation and its use. The minister exhorted the people to make proper use of waters and avoid wastage as it is precious for future generations. The aim of the drive is to involve people in villages to see that the water is conserved and make proper use of the same during summer. He also stressed the need for preserving every drop of rain waters as that will help increase in ground water table and tide over water crisis and use for agricultural needs. Intake wells, rain water pits, farm ponds are part of water protection measures and employment guarantee scheme is being implemented for the purpose the minister said. (NSS)
