Jagan rubbishes rumours of Congress split

Hyderabad, October 16: YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is understood to have rubbished reports that his supporters would split the party in the event of the Congress taking a decision which might not be to their liking.

Jagan reportedly told those who called on him at his residecne today not to get carried away by such reports and asked them to exercise restraint on the succession issue.

He told them to help him strengthen the party first.

Jagan will leave for Bangalore tomorrow morning and will return to the city on Monday. He is expected to take a decision on shifting of the base of his political activities from the CM’s camp office at begumpet to his family member’s residence at Sagar Society Colony in Banjara Hills next week. He may go to Delhi next week if he gets a call from the party high command. Delhi affairs are being handled by late YSR’s close aide and Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao.

Ministers B Srinivasa Reddy, P Vishwarup, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Danam Nagender, Sunitha Laxma Reddy, Konda Surekha, Council deputy chairman Mohd Jani, MPs Undavalli Arun Kumar, Ponnam Prabhakar, Suresh Shetkar, Council whip Sivarami Reddy, several MLAs, MLCs and others were among those who met Jagan this morning. Pondicherry revenue and excise minister M Krishna Rao also met Jagan and extended his solidarity with the young leader.

Meanwhile, there was political activity at the residences of APCC president D Srinivas and senior Congress member JC Diwakar Reddy this evening. Minister P Ramachandra Reddy and Tadipatri MLA Diwakar Reddy met separately the PCC chief. It is learnt that they discussed the prevailing political situation in the State.

TRS leaders E Rajender and Ramalinga Reddy met Diwakar Reddy at the latter’s residence.
