YSR Congress Party chief and Leader of the Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of deliberately preventing a discussion on the heinous “Call Money-cum-Sex Racket” in the Assembly with the fear that his complicity in the scandal might be exposed.
When the YSRCP members, including Jaganmohan Reddy, were suspended by the Speaker from the House amidst din, the only Opposition group came out and staged a demonstration in protest against the hostile attitude of the ruling party.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Jaganmohan Reddy alleged that Chandrababu Naidu had a photo session with the accused in the Call Money-Sex scam and also the Intelligence DIG, which proves that he was hand in glove with the perpetrators. He also alleged that the Treasury Benches talked about Dr Ambedkar again and again in the House with the sole intention of side-tracking the sensational scam, which set Vijayawada aflame. Assailing the ruling party for “misusing” Dr Ambedkar’s name for side-tracking the burning issue, Jaganmohan Reddy pointed out that the statue of the Constitution-maker on the Assembly premises has gathered dust and remained unclean. But the Chief Minister, who was preaching sermons on Dr Ambedkar to protect his skin as well as skin of his tainted party leaders, did not have an idea of cleaning the statue.
“Why didn’t Naidu remember about Dr Ambedkar on his birth and death anniversaries? He was using the great leader’s name now to put a discussion on sex racket on back burner. Aren’t the Call Money-Sex racket victims poor and children of Father of the Indian Constitution? Though there was no mention of Dr Ambedkar in the Agenda of the Business of the House, the ruling party, for the first time, brought the issue after the Assembly was adjourned.” Jagan also bemoaned that the Call- Money culprits had threatened and blackmailed the women sexually and produced videos on them.
The winter session is scheduled only for five days and call money sex racket is the most serious issue which needs to be discussed threadbare so that all culprits are brought to book and justice is done to the poor victims, Jagan Mohan said. Instead of taking immediate steps to punish the culprits in the scam, Chandrababu was trying to shield them as most of them belong to Telugu Desam Party, Jagan Mohan said. (NSS)
