JAC threatens to gherao CM

Visakhapatnam, September 26: The Samykhya Andhra (United Andhra) Joint Action Committee (JAC) threatened to gherao Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah today during his visit to Bheeminipatnam Municipality for its 150th year celebrations.

The JAC members were demanding issuance of notifications for several government examinations and burnt the CM’s effigy in Andhra University compus at VS Krishna Library.

Convener of students (JAC) L Govinda Rao said yesterday late former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy had issued 53 GOs to Group-2, JL, DAO, Group-1 mains, Gazetted and non-Gazetted posts just before the last elections. But the present CM, showing apathy towards students and jobless youth, had not issued notifications to conduct examinations.

He said in spite of several representations and protests the government was adamant in finding a solution to the problem.

He said the students were confused about future job opportunities.

He warned that if the government didn’t issue notifications, JAC would ‘gherao’ people’s representatives and even stage dharnas in front of their houses. BSFC convener B Kanta Rao and others participated.
