JAC camp set afire at Qutbullapur

Hyderabad, January 31: Unidentified miscreants set ablaze a tent erected by local students Joint Action Committee of Qutbullapur leading to mild tension in the area.

It was put up a few days back near Qutbullapur police outpost following TJAC’s call to stage relay hunger strikes across the region for separate Telangana.

Jeedimetla inspector A Sanjeeva Rao said unidentified miscreants set ablaze the tent around 4 am. Enraged over burning of tent, leaders of various political parties took out a rally and later staged a dharna demanding action against the accused. Additional forces including CRPF men rushed to the spot to prevent trouble.

Traffic was paralysed due to the dharna. However, protestors left the place after local Congress leaders reportedly assured to cancel Rachabanda scheduled to be held in the locality on Feb 1. Another tent was later erected and the relay hunger strikes went on as usual.

Police registered a case and are investigating.
