Israel to reopen key holy site in Jerusalem post Palestinian outrage

Israel has reportedly said that it will reopen an important holy site in Jerusalem on Friday, a day after it was closed due to unrest in the city.

The Haram al-Sharif or Temple Mount, one of Islam and Judaism’s holiest sites, was closed on Thursday after a Jewish activist was shot, reported the BBC.

A spokesman for Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas had earlier dubbed the closure of the holy site as a “declaration of war.”

The announcement came amid flaring tension in Jerusalem following several attacks.

The site, which is known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as Haram al-Sharif, is the holiest site in Judaism and contains the al-Aqsa Mosque , the third holiest site in Islam. (ANI)
