New Delhi: Zakir Naik back in headlines after Interpol took up India’s request to issue “Red Corner Notices” against the Islamic preacher.
According to the report published India.com, Red Corner Notices are requests to 194 member states to arrest fugitives.
It may be mentioned that Interpol cannot force any country to arrest the fugitive even after issuing the Red Corner Notice.
In December 2017, Interpol had canceled the notice against Zakir Naik. He had also approached the Interpol and alleged that he is being targeted.
In 2018, NIA had rejected the claims made by Zakir Naik. A request for Red Corner Notices was also sent to the Interpol in the month of January.
It may be noted that NIA in its charge sheet said that Zakir Naik had insulted religious beliefs of various religions.
