Karachi, October 01: The Lashkar-e-Taiba terror group has created a furore after they claimed that Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) was aware of the Mumbai Terror attack plan. At a time when India is reiterating the need of wiping out terror groups and restore international peace, such a claim creates a doubt about the integrity of the intelligence officials and other organs dedicated to combat all forms of terrorism.
Lashkar has not refrained from its expansive operation even after the dreadful 26/11 attack.
As per the Pakistani dossier on the Mumbai investigations, which contains the details on LeT operations, Hammad Amin Sadiq, a homeopathic pharmacist, arranged bank accounts and supplies for the terrorists.
According to a senior American intelligence official, ISI maintained close connection with Lashkar. Moreover, four LeT members also admitted that there is not much of separation between Lashkar and the ISI, owing to the constant exchanges between former ISI and military officials.
Even a Lashkar militant asserted that some of the Mumbai attackers were trained by former Pakistani military and intelligence officials at Lashkar camps. Pointing out the direct association of the ISI officials in the terror planning, a senior Lashkar operative in Karachi said that he had met some of the gunmen before they departed for Mumbai assault.
