Iran wants talks, but vows no concessions in nuclear dispute

Tehran, September 12: Tehran said Saturday that it would be ready to resume diplomatic talks with the West on the basis of it latest proposals regarding global issues, but vowed to make no concessions in the nuclear dispute.

“Iran is seriously willing to enter talks on with the world powers on the basis of the items mentioned in the latest package,” Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said in a press briefing in Tehran.

“We can however make no concessions as far as the (nuclear) rights of the nation is concerned,” the foreign minister added.

Iran on Wednesday delivered a proposed agenda on issues such as global conflict-resolution, but it contain the main demand of the world powers to suspend its nuclear programmes, especially uranium enrichment.

The six states – the five permanent member states of United Nations Security Council resolution plus Germany – have warned that if Iran did not enter the talks within the current month, the Islamic state could face further financial sanctions.

“If these (six) countries intend to continue the already failed policy of sanctions, then it will be their business,” Mottaki said.
