IPL cheerleaders draw wrath of Congress MLAs

New Delhi, April 02: The Delhi Assembly was today rocked by vociferous protests from ruling Congress MLAs over alleged obscene dance by cheerleaders and consumption of liquor in stadium during IPL cricket matches, with a few lawmakers even demanding a ban on the event in the city.

Finance Minister AK Walia assured the House that he will seek a detailed report on the matter and appropriate action will be taken.

The issue was raised by Congress MLA Matin Ahmed who alleged that scantly-clad cheerleaders were engaged in obscene dance before the people during the Indian Premier League matches at Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium.

“Some telecom firms have even started betting through SMS services, promising winners that they will be able to meet the cheerleaders,” he alleged.

“People are openly having liquor in the stadium with betting and gambling taking place without any check,” he alleged.
