Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India]: Amid the ongoing row surrounding the use of plastic and rubber bullets by the security forces in the restive Kashmir Valley, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) DIG Sanjay Kumar on Tuesday said their intention is to spread the crowd not to kill anyone, adding these are used in extreme conditions.
Kumar, however, admitted this is not the correct time to say anything on this.
“The government will soon let us its orders. The live bullet is the last resort. Our intention is to spread the crowd and not to kill anyone. But we use this in extreme conditions,” Kumar said.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has asked the security forces to use plastic bullets against the stone-pelters in the Valley and pellet guns to be used only as a last resort, sources state.
The Supreme Court had asked the Centre in the last hearing on.. to consider effective means other than use of pellet guns to quell stone pelting mobs in Jammu and Kashmir as it concerns life and death. (ANI)
