Inquiry finds Ashram management responsible for diarrhea deaths in MP

Barwani, December 13: A magisterial inquiry has found contaminated drinking water as the reason behind the deaths of five tribal girls of Kasturba Gandhi Vanvasi Kanya Ashram due to diarrhea on August 15.

The inquiry has held ashram management responsible for the incident and the then civil surgeon of the district hospital Dr B K Savner for negligence in the treatment of Kavita (10).

In his report to the district collector, inquiring officer Vishnu Kamlakar has recommended action against concerned.

The inquiry had revealed that regular examination of water samples could have avoided the incident. More than 150 girls had been affected by diarrhea during the incident.
