Bengaluru: Global software major Infosys Ltd on Wednesday signed a pact with Italian power equipment producer Ansaldo Energia to provide engineering services.
“We will provide research and development service delivery and capabilities, along with engineering services to the enlarged Ansaldo Energia business,” said the IT outsourcing firm in a statement here.
The Genoa-based Ansaldo supports public and private sector producers with a range of plant engineering, manufacturing and service activities.
“We will expand our global service delivery network into Eastern Europe and Russia’s heavy engineering sector by setting up development centres at Karlovac in Croatia and Moscow,” the statement said.
The new facilities will have initially 180 seats and operate as centres of excellence for engineering skills in turbo machinery, aerospace and automotive.
Both the centres will also support a wide roster of engineering clients, including those Ansaldo supports with plant engineering, manufacturing and services.
“The agreement with Ansaldo is a landmark in the development of our engineering services capabilities. Apart from providing services in the development of new gas turbines, the strengthening of design services capabilities comes when the industry is looking at digital design services to transform the cost and speed of production of industrial equipment,” said Infosys President Sandeep Dadlani in the statement.
Croatia and Russia have a wealth of heavy engineering skills, enabling the delivery of essential support services to sectors including energy generation, transportation and exploration, it said.
