Indywood Film Festival Third Edition 2017 will be organized at Ramoji Film City (RFC) here from December 1 to 4 this year, according to Cinematography Minister T Srinivas Yadav. He said Telangana State Film awards will be given to the artistes on the occasion of Dasara festival instead of Ugadi festival.
Addressing the media along with Indywood founder-director Sohan Roy at the Secretariat here today, the minister said some 100 countries are expected to participate in the festival and the State government would extend all support to the international event. The third edition will be portraying the films of myriad varieties from across the world with latest trends in film technology, he said, adding that the government would encourage films of historic prominence like “Gauthamiputra Shatakarni” starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, action-thriller Khaidi No. 150 of Chiranjeevi, family sentiment like “Shatamanam Bhavati” and others.
Best theaters will be encouraged for screening the best films during the carnival, he said. The State government was in search of land for setting up film studios to promote film industry, the Cinematography Minister said, adding Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was keen on promoting and supporting the film industry in the State.
Extending thanks to the Chief Minister KCR and Cinematography Minister Srinivas Yadav for their support, Sohan Roy said the event will associate with noted film-maker Shyam Benegal and have unique sessions, meetings, networking sessions and entertaining programs. All Lights India International Film Festival 2017 (ALIFF) will showcase 250 movies from 60 countries, including 75 redcarpet screenings, 150 films in short film corner, 15 award films and others.
