Indian students have been targeted in Oz, asserts top Victoria cop

Melbourne, January 20: Eventually, the Australian police have admitted that the Indian students have been targeted in the country in light of racial attacks. Victoria’s top police official asserted that the problem had been surfaced couple of years back as the community is overrepresented in robbery statistics as well as racist factor is also prime element to some attacks. The statement came from Police Chief Commissioner Simon Overland through media reports.

He asserted that it is unacceptable as the Indian students have been targeted upto a level in robberies, and we had recognized this problem a long time before.

Overland affirmed that the police came to know this earlier and we are putting our best to curb the crime, and trying to engage the students on several occasions to make them pragmatic to understand the situation and keep themselves protected from any mis- happening.

He also affirmed that we have full details of the attacks related to Indians and they were over represented when it came to robberies, and it couldn’t be claim for assaults.
