New Delhi, April 05: India and the US today discussed ways to help tsunami and nuclear disaster-hit Japan in its recovery besides other issues concerning East Asia and Asia Pacific region.
The official-level discussions were held as part of the third round of India-US Consultation on East Asia and Asia Pacific region here.
At the day-long meeting, the Indian delegation was headed by Gautam Bambwale, Joint Secretary (East Asia) in the External Affairs Ministry while the US side was led by Kurt Campbell, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs.
The two sides held wide-ranging discussions on the situation in the region, sources said.
They deliberated on the situation in tsunami-hit Japan and how the country could recover from the devastation, the sources said, adding both sides agreed to support Japan in its hour of need.
