New Delhi, December 24: Most of us may not like this but its the bitter truth of India’s future. We are dreaming to see it as a developed nation, but it shall remain a dream only.
Though on papers India may boast of having a growth rate of 7-8%, but the percentage of poor are still the same as it was after independece, which was about 50%. Even their numbers have increased from 17 million to about 80 million. In fact this growth rate works against them as small percentage of people who are progressing inflate the market, which poor has to suffer.
Most likely this poor population will increase to about 180 million by 2050, having far less resources, almost no food or too expensive food, polluted water, possibly leading to a civil war. India will still be progressing on papers though. The govt. would still not take any strict action to control population as people will vote it out. In short India is a going to be a living hell.
The only hope is a china like strict rule, and one child policy, at least for poor people. Its ridiculous that the people who are least capable of fullfilling basic needs of kids tends to have more kids than the one who can. If poor beget 4-5 kids, the rich beget 1-2 kids. This result in more numbers of poor and less division of capital of rich people leading do inequality.
But alas, we live in a democractic country and no one can force people to control population even if that means misery and misfortune.
