Mumbai, December 13: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) promoted Gyan Vani radio will now broadcast Radio Netherlands Worldwide (RNW) programmes on environment.
The central open University’s radio channel, which has about twomillion students in India and 35 countries abroad will broadcast RNW’s weekly radio programme ”Earth Beat”, hosted Marnie Chesterton and Earth Beat team who would present a ”straight-talking, intelligent and often funny look at a serious subject.” RNW is the Dutch international public service broadcaster with over 3,300 partner radio stations over the world.
”IGNOU is seeking to strengthen the natural and human resources of India through the launch of a number of academic initiatives in the area. Hence the agreement with Radio Netherlands Worldwide for the re-broadcast of EARTH BEAT programme through Gyan Vani radio network is timely and would compliment the efforts of the University in generating awareness and educating people about the serious environmental concerns of our times,” IGNOU Vice Chancellor Prof V N Rajasekharan Pillai said in a statement.
