SRINAGAR: The reports of Jammu and Kashmir’s first IAS topper Shah Faesal and student leader and youth activist Shehla Rashid joining the National Conference are doing the rounds.
There are speculations of Faesal and Rashid joining the active politics in Valley for quite sometime but has increased sharply after a tweet from senior journalist Barkha Dutt.
Dutt tweeted on Wednesday in which she wrote, “So word is @shahfaesal & @Shehla_Rashid to contest the next elections in #Kashmir after formally joining @OmarAbdullah & the National Conference. Personally think the more new & young faces join politics in Jammu and Kashmir the better it is, irrespective of which party.”

Also Zaffar Mir (Lasjan), the grandson of former Congress leader and former minister Ghulam Muhamad Mir Lasjan confirmed to Rising Kashmir that he is joining National Conference.
Talking to Rising Kashmir, a senior NC leader said that both Faesal and Rashid have expressed interest in joining the party, “Shah Faesal is in touch with Omar (Abdullah) sahab, Shehla Rashid Shora will join soon, and Zaffar’s joining the party will soon be announced by Farooq (Abdullah) sahab,” adding “All three are willing to join the party.”
35-year-old the outspoken bureaucrat, is currently an Edward S Mason Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School in the US on a study leave.
The 2011 batch officer had drawn a sharp reaction for his tweets and disciplinary action was initiated against Faesal by the government.
After the fall of the PDP-BJP government, there a governor’s rule in Jammu and Kahsmir.
