Nellore, August 08: Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi on Sunday reiterated that the party would continue its fight against government failures on various public issues.
Talking to reporters after participating in the Praja Chaitanya Yatra at Kavali in Nellore district, he said the party would not spare the government in the Assembly if it fails to address people’s problems.
He urged the government to make efforts to waive off overdue loans of handloom weavers, including the principal and interest, as they are in dire straits.
Mr Chiranjeevi revealed Chief Minister K Rosaiah had approved a proposal regarding loan waiver for weavers and added that a GO confirming this approval is awaited.
Lashing out at the government for giving liberal permits for liquor shops in the state, he said the Congress had violated its earlier commitment, which promised to ban liquor in a phased manner in the state in 2004. “The party should not link mobilising resources with liquor and it should try to generate revenue from other routes,” he demanded.
The actor-turned-politician blamed the Centre for the shortage of fertilisers in the state. He charged that the wrong policies adopted by the Union Government were responsible for shortage of fertilizers in the state.
Reacting on the bifurcation of state issue, he hoped that all Telugu-speaking people should join hands and make efforts for integration of state. “I want to see all Telugu-speaking people under one umbrella. It’s not a crime against the nation,” he said.
Reacting to a question on some leaders leaving his party to join other parties, the PRP chief said that joined his party hoping to mint money are leaving and added only those who had joined the PRP with a genuine intention to serve the people are still with him.
