Hyderabad, August 28: “I have become a veteran in administration. Now I like playing games in politics,’’ Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy has said.
Indicating that administration and politics gave him amusement, Reddy said that the first five-year term was like training for him in administration.
In an informal chat with reporters in the lobbies of the Assembly Thursday, he said he would concentrate both on administration and politics simultaneously. Noting that organisational structure of the Congress should be strengthened, he said that his `Racha banda’ programme would focus on administration and party matters. The delivery mechanism should be ensured both by the officials and party workers, he said but dismissed the idea of following the West Bengal model.
“The Marxists in West Bengal never concentrate on development.
They will deliver all governments chemes through their party workers. It is dictatorial.
I am against such Communist bent of mind…
My government believes in saturation concept and is doing things for all people.’’ Admitting that some party candidates lost the Assembly elections due to weak organisational structure, he said it was proper time to concentrate on party matters.
“We cannot build the organisation overnight.’’ Congress had to reach the magic figure of 272 seats in the Lok Sabha in the next elections and they were concentrating from now on to win 42 seat s from Andhra Pradesh, he said.
“I am serious about politics to see that the Congress gets absolute majority at the Centre,’’ Reddy said. “If the party organisation is strong, we can overcome any deficiencies of candidates,’’ he analysed and advised ministers to visit Congress offices during their visits to districts.
Asked whether his `Racha banda ’ programme was akin to former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s Janmabhoomi tour, Rajasekhara Reddy said that Naidu was never a role model for him.
“Naidu always does quite the opposite of what he says. He wants leaders to keep off politics till the election time.
I have decided to concentrate both on development and politics. I have my own style and never follow Naidu’s,’’ Reddy said.
