New Delhi, August 18: Assam Governor Syed Sibtey Razi today ruled out resignation from the post and dismissed as “absolutely false” reports that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has asked him to resign from the post in the wake of raids on two of his aides when he was Governor of Jharkhand.
“I am not going to resign. I was Governor, I am a Governor and will be Governor till October (when his term ends),” he told reporters after meeting Home Minister P Chidambaram.
Reacting to reports that the Prime Minister has asked him to quit, he said “there is no indication from the Prime Minister. I have no idea what is the basis of the report. Yeh bilkul galat hai (This is absolutely false).”
Sources in the Prime Minister’s office also termed the media reports that he has been asked to quit as “totally untrue”.
