Hyderabad: A local court in Hyderabad on Tuesday convicted a 63-year-old man and sentenced him to seven years imprisonment for killing his 28-year-old son in 2018.
During the trial, the Additional District Judge (ADJ) Bhavani Chandra convicted the accused Pagadala Mohan Rao Naidu under section 304 (ii) to undergo seven years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and also imposed a fine of Rs 600 on him.
According to the investigation officer, the deceased Mahender Naidu was addicted to alcohol and often used to fight with his parents upon which his father admonished him.
On 13 October 2018, the accused (father) along with his friend and the son consumed alcohol at some place, after which he returned home in fully intoxicated condition, said the officer.
“Later around 11 pm, Mahender arrived at home too and started knocking on the door, which enraged Mohan Rao, who came out of the house with a knife and stabbed his son to death,” the officer added.
A case was registered by the Neredmet police under section 302, 201 of the IPC against Mohan Rao and he was arrested. During the course of the investigation, the accused was remanded to judicial custody and was convicted on Tuesday.
