Hurriyat strike cripples life in Kashmir

Srinagar, January 26: Life was today crippled due to strike on a call given by separatist organisations, including both factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) on 61st Republic day.

Offices and business establishments remained closed and traffic was also off the road in summer capital Srinagar and its adjoining areas.

However, government offices and banks remained closed on account of public holiday today.
Education institutions also remain closed due to winter vacations.

A report from Anantanag said that complete shutdown was observed in this and other south Kashmir districts with shops and business establishments remaining closed and no traffic on the roads Life also remained paralysed in Baramulla and other north Kashmir districts.

Streets wore a deserted look with only security forces guarding the roads.

Shops and business establishments also remained closed and traffic was off the road.

Similar reports were also received from other district and tehsil headquarters in the Kashmir valley.
