Huge quantities of explosives recovered in Assam

Tezpur, October 25: Huge quantities of explosives, including RDX, were recovered by security personnel from Assam’s Sonitpur district in stepped up search operations in view of intelligence reports on possibility of attacks by NDFB and ULFA militants, officials said.

Acting on a tip-off, Assam Rifles personnel recovered four kg RDX from a house at Gutlong in Tezpur and arrested a person in this connection.

A powerful IED planted under a large pipe by suspected militants at Nayapathar in the district were recovered by patrolling securitymen.

Search and combing operations throughout Assam has been intensified following intelligence inputs that both NDFB and ULFA militants may strike ahead of the first anniversary of the October 30 blasts which claimed more than 90 lives and left nearly 900 people injured.
