HP launches second phase of Rashtriya Bima Yojana

Shimla, January 08: Buoyed by the success of Rashtriya Bima Yojana, Himachal Pradesh government today launched the second phase of the scheme that will provide cash incentives to gram panchayats for preparation of health smart cards.

The government would provide cash incentives to gram panchayats for preparation of health smart cards and extend critical illness expenses to upto Rs 1.75 lakh per annum for BPL families out of its own resources, a release quoting the Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said.

Extending the health insurance cover of Rs 30,000 per annum to 2.98 lakh BPL families in all districts, Dhumal said the scheme will be implemented from March 1, 2010. A cash award of Rs 50,000 would be provided to one gram panchayat in each district for preparation of cent per cent smart cards while second and third prize of Rs 25,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively would be given as motivation incentive to the gram panchayats, it said.
